Ooty Diocese - 1949
Founded in 1949. It is situated in the hill station of Ootacamund with fresh air and calm atmosphere. From 1949 to 1981 it was the house of Theology for all the Indian Provinces. It was also the headquarters of the Indian Commissariat from 1949 to 1956. It was a Novitiate house from 1981 to 1985. From June 1985 onwards it became the Philosophical College of the Amala Annai Province. One year of post-Novitiate was here along with the Philosophate in 2001 - 2002. With the bifurcation of the Tamil Nadu Province in 2012, it has become the Common Philosophate for the Tamil Nadu Provinces. We also admit North Indian Capuchins and seminarians of other congregations at times.
In 1994, St. Francis Children Home was established within the Friary Campus. It sheltered school-going boys and girls, majority of them orphans and semi-orphans. We had to close down the service in 2014 as the admissions diminished. Part of the left wing with an Auditorium, Refectory and Chapel serve for retreat purposes from 2001..
